Welcome to the
How the Fox Den came to be:
Growing up, my Great Aunt was a high school science teacher who rehabilitated wildlife. She cared for two foxes who were unable to be released into the wild. Since they were unable to be released, my Aunt created a makeshift "den" for them. As a child, I found it fascinating.
Fast forward to classroom decorations. In our rooms, we have big shelves that don't look aesthetically pleasing. I had bought material with a cute fox design to make curtains to make the shelving area more appealing. The next year, I added alternative lighting and continue to evolve my room so that it gives a homey kind of feel when you walk in.
Now that I am grown, I find more meaning in it. Foxes often live in forests by burrowing with a small family group. When students walk through the door, into our "den," they know it is a safe place each and every day.
